I was lucky enough to get into a Phoebe Bridgers popup show the other day and it was exactly as magical as you'd hope it would be after a four hour outdoor wait. Being unemployed rules.

I'm not going to go into detail about anything here because PB specifically said she likes having space to experiment where nothing is recorded, but let me just say I heard seven new songs and cannot wait for whatever she does decide to put out next. She is a talented writer and also excellent live (she was amazing live with Boygenius, too). The show had a stripped-back feel, but she did mention somewhere that the album won't sound like that. Maybe more rock vibes or weirder synths? I am still marinating in the experience and probably will be for a bit.

Honestly, the no phones thing really added to the experience. I actually had good conversations with the people next to me and didn't feel like a three-headed freak for trying to talk to them. Everyone was experiencing the show as it happened and processing it with whoever they were sat by, likely the random line neighbor they'd been getting to know for the last few hours.

I didn't get any merch because the line was a fathom deep so I am probably getting a Reweki GIRL WAR shirt because this was my own personal GIRL WAR and I emerged victorious.
